My last assignment for college, and the one I'm most proud of. After the Brock Turner saga, we were given a brief to create a narrative series of 6-8 images, so I decided to tackle the "victim blaming" side of the Turner case.
Each of these images, comes from a different excuse for "why" the abuse happened.
Having had my own experiences with this, this was a hard project to shoot, let alone to present. Originally, I wanted to make a full blown production for this one, but decided against it for time constraints, so in the end, the six images were printed and mounted on black craft foam boards and made into a die. The photos were covered in an extra sheet of foam, painted with the respective number of dots to represent the faces of the die. The die itself, was completed with rough edges, spaces and cuts through the foam, to represent the idea that even after it's done and dusted, we're never quite the same as we were before.
The choice of models came down to representation for the fact that abuse doesn't just happen to women.
It happens to all of us, regardless as to how we identify ourselves.
Each of the models in these shots, are close friends or family members, and in no way mirror their beliefs with that of Brock or his family.

1. "What did you expect going out like that?"
2. "But you're in relationship."
3. "What kind of man are you?! You should be happy you're getting the attention!"
4. "But think of his future!"
5. "Well they didn't say no."
6. "How could you trust him so easily and so readily?"
